Therapeutic Tape Videos & FAQ

There are several kinds of tape available, each one serving a different purpose. The Cover-Roll stretch tape, made by a German company BSN Medical, is used primarily for creating stability when dealing with torn muscles and ligaments. BSN medical also makes Leukotape-P Sports tape which is meant to go over the Cover-Roll tape when additional stability is needed, for example on a badly torn ankle. There are also many other kinds of Kinesiology tape that are elastic like Rock tape – Hampton Adams Premium Kinesiology tape, KT tape or Kinesio tape among them. My therapist choice tape that I mostly use Cover-Roll stretch tape. I am currently using and recommending the Hampton Adams brand tape for my stretchy tape, as it is more affordable and works better than Rock tape in my opinion. The elasticity of Hampton Adams tape makes it perfect for applying it over the knee cap or on the back of the knee.
Yes, you can take a shower with kinesiology tape. If you take a bath, the water may saturate the tape and it may peel off. If the tape still has integrity after contact with water, you don’t need to re-tape.
No, you want to have the infrared/red light directly on the skin without tape or clothing.
Foot Taping for Arch Support.
Please watch this short video to see how to tape the foot for plantar fasciitis. My clients often ask me, “how long should I tape my foot for plantar fascilitis?” It really depends on how bad the micro tears in the plantar fascia are. To fully heal a tear can take 6 months to 3 years, depending on the severity of the tear.
Using this foot tape for pain relief and arch support can be life changing and transforming, enabling you to be walking with ease.
Kinesiology tape placement on the knee is easy and extremely helpful. However, you need to be mindful of the fact that skin around the knee is vulnerable to tape rash. I strongly recommend using Smith & Nephew Skin-Prep Protective Barrier wipes all around the knee before taping. Make sure to let the liquid dry before applying the tape.
